Senior Financial Accountant

Location: London (2-3 days per week in the office). Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 per annum. Job Type: Full-time – Permanent. Reed Finance are supporting a PE backed Infrastructure firm who are seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join their dynamic Finance team.

This pivotal role supports the delivery of high-quality financial reporting, control, and compliance activities. It will require close collaboration with the Financial Controller and the wider finance team to ensure month-end close, balance sheet integrity, and statutory obligations are met, while driving improvements across processes, systems, and internal governance.

The right person for this role will have trained as a Chartered Accountant within a Big Four or Top 6 accounting firm and will have 3-5 years post qualified experience.

Day-to-day responsibilities

  • Prepare and review key month-end journals and reconciliations.
  • Maintain and review balance sheet control accounts.
  • Manage fixed asset register, conduct depreciation reviews, and monitor capital expenditure.
  • Support lease accounting under IFRS 16, including managing right-of-use asset and liability schedules.
  • Participate in both internal and external audits, including the preparation of audit schedules.
  • Collaborate with other finance functions to ensure accuracy and alignment.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of finance policies, controls, and procedures.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and support their implementation.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to junior team members.
  • Support the finance leadership team with ad hoc analysis and project work.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • ACA Qualified Accountant – Big Four or Top 6 practice trained - 3-5 years post qualified experience
  • US SOX experience and knowledge
  • Strong background in financial accounting, with hands-on experience in month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial control.
  • Experience in a larger, multi-site, or complex organisation preferred.
  • Exposure to asset-heavy or leasing businesses highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of fixed asset, lease, or inventory accounting processes is advantageous.
  • Working understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS, especially IFRS 16 (leases).
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, Navision, or Business Central is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confident handling large data sets.
  • Proactive and accountable, with a solutions-focused mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage across teams.
