We are looking for Graduates for our Building Specialists teams, who have a flexible approach and an appetite to learn in a leading Engineering and Professional Advisory services consultancy. Working as a Graduate in one of our Building Specialists teams means working on exciting and innovative projects. We bring the latest techniques to ensure clients get best in class service in what is an increasingly complex design and compliance environment. You will be embedded in multidisciplinary teams and mentored by experienced professionals, gaining exposure to real-world challenges and solutions. You will be part of a supportive team culture with mentoring and guidance as you develop your skills.

Our teams work on prestigious assignments, and you will help deliver projects such as:

  • Monklands Replacement Hospital, Scotland
  • Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle
  • New Riverside Stand, Fulham FC
  • Control Posts, Heathrow Airport
  • Mayfield Republic

Building Specialist Teams

Fire Engineering

Our Fire Engineering team develops the overall fire strategy for a building, including design of fire protection systems, means of escape, building layout, smoke control, sprinkler systems, and material reactions. As a Graduate, you will help protect buildings and occupants by ensuring compliance with Part B of the Building Regulations and by delivering fire strategy documents and technical reports. Day-to-day activities may include:

  • Producing fire strategy reports for proposed and existing buildings
  • Writing technical design notes
  • Marking up architectural drawings to produce fire strategy plans
  • Reviewing existing documentation
  • Design team meetings and site visits
  • Responding to fire-related queries from other disciplines

Digital Services

Digital Services lead the implementation of BIM, information management and visualization across Property and Buildings. You will join a forward-thinking Digital Services team delivering BIM and digital solutions. Day-to-day activities may include:

  • Supporting project teams in delivering BIM and digital advisory
  • Developing and managing digital strategies across a project lifecycle
  • Coordinating and reviewing BIM models for accuracy
  • Ensuring compliance with BIM standards (ISO19650)
  • Using common data environments (e.g., BIM360 Docs, ProjectWise)
  • Assisting in bids and proposals with BIM and digital support

Façade Engineering

Façade Engineering covers the design of building envelopes with a range of skills including structural engineering, environmental design, sustainability, acoustics, materials technology, and site installation. The façade package is a key project element and often represents a significant portion of build cost. Day-to-day activities may include:

  • Preparing engineering calculations (thermal modelling, building physics, glass design)
  • Preparing design details, drawings and deliverables
  • Developing knowledge of façade materials and engineering aspects
  • Site inspections of façade installations
  • Collaborating with other design disciplines
  • Improving competency across software (Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, Flixo, Bisco, Builddesk, Strand, SJ Mepla)

Energy Solutions

Energy Solutions is WSP’s heat networks business. You’ll join a team developing this technology, whether as an energy modeller or by working with experienced colleagues to achieve chartered engineer status. Day-to-day activities may include:

  • Engaging with clients and supporting project managers
  • Visiting construction sites to assess progress and quality
  • Learning to use new software and WSP tools
  • Joining design team meetings and interfacing with other disciplines
  • Creating presentations and supporting bids

Graduate Development Programme

Our two-year Graduate Development programme supports personal and professional development through blended learning, mentoring for professional registration, and on-the-job experience. What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

  • You will have graduated with at least a 2:2 in a master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field.
  • Your application should be complete in full with answers to all questions; online skill enabler assessment may follow.
  • You’ll be looking to start work in April or September 2026.
  • You’ll have a passion for Buildings Specialists services and awareness of building systems (lighting, security).
  • You’ll have an interest in digital engineering and BIM (Digital Services).
  • You’ll be eager to learn and develop skills in BIM coordination and digital project delivery
  • You’ll have an understanding of engineering or construction design processes
  • You’ll be curious about new technologies and how they solve real-world problems
  • You’ll bring creativity and a drive to solve problems and share new ideas
