Overview

Our established Fraud Risk Services team is looking for more fraud experts. We are seeking candidates with a background and real interest in fraud prevention who can quickly assist clients in identifying gaps in fraud controls and remedy these, or work with client teams to train staff to recognise and prevent fraud. The role involves working on counter fraud services for public and private sector clients, including NHS bodies that report against CFA requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Policy reviews – review client policies for fraud/bribery risks and ensure suitable controls are listed to reduce offences and support disciplinary action where needed.
  • Liaison with senior staff – report to the Director of Finance or CFO, produce and present annual workplans, progress reports and annual reports to the Audit Committee.
  • Delivering training – prepare and present engaging training to clients’ staff, from induction to targeted sessions for finance, HR or procurement staff, or Board briefings on corporate criminal offences.
  • Undertaking proactive exercises – deep-dive into areas of identified fraud risk to review controls, identify fraud, and strengthen procedures.
  • Fraud referrals – receive and manage referrals from staff, managers or HR, and coordinate with the organisation’s Freedom to Speak Up Guardian.
  • Receiving referrals of fraud/bribery/offences – identify losses/gains, key lines of enquiry, and proportionality of investigation.
  • Information requests – submit requests under the Data Protection Act for evidence; liaise with witnesses and gather statements; undertake interviews under caution; prepare case papers for the CPS.
  • Advisory actions – recognise when sanctions may not be proportionate and recommend internal or regulatory action; make recommendations to prevent recurrence; collaborate with NHSCFA Financial Investigators to gain evidence.
