Overview

Join the Counter Fraud team at RSM UK. We are looking for experienced fraud professionals to support public and private sector clients, including NHS bodies, with counter fraud services such as risk assessments, policy reviews, training, investigations, and data-informed fraud prevention. This role involves working with senior stakeholders and delivering proactive fraud controls and governance improvements as part of our growing consulting practice.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking Fraud and Bribery Risk Assessments – work with senior managers to understand controls, test effectiveness, identify gaps, and score residual risk.
  • Policy reviews – assess client policies for fraud/bribery risk and ensure appropriate controls are in place and disciplinary measures are defined.
  • Liaison with senior staff – report to Directors/Chief Financial Officers; develop and present annual workplans, progress reports, and annual reports to the Audit Committee.
  • Delivering training – design and deliver engaging training sessions for client staff, from induction for large groups to targeted sessions for finance, HR, procurement, or boards.
  • Undertaking proactive exercises – conduct deep dives into identified fraud risk areas, test controls, and strengthen procedures.
  • Receipt of fraud referrals – handle complaints from staff, managers, or HR; coordinate with the organisation’s reporting lines for concerns.
  • Receiving referrals of fraud/bribery or other offences – identify estimated loss/gain and plan proportional investigations.
  • Submitting information requests under data protection rules for evidence; liaising with witnesses and gathering evidence/exhibits; taking witness statements.
  • Undertaking interviews under caution and preparing case papers for the CPS; recognise when sanctions are not proportionate and recommend internal/regulatory action.
  • Making recommendations to prevent recurrence and collaborating with NHSCFA Financial Investigators to obtain evidence.

  • Ability to pass enhanced security vetting (NPPV + SC) and DBS clearance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating complex, sensitive information and producing high-quality reports.
  • Strong ability to organise and manage a varied workload with a client-focused approach.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, take initiative, and exceed client expectations.
