The Environment Agency works to create better places for people, wildlife and the environment. We focus on the climate emergency and help society adapt to environmental challenges such as flooding, drought, sea level rise and coastal change. We aim to improve and protect air, land and water quality by tackling pollution and to support businesses in complying with environmental regulations, contributing to sustainable and resilient economic growth.

This role is an opportunity to drive our Geospatial development across the organisation, enabling colleagues to deliver our environmental ambitions. Supporting the GIS Manager and Senior Team Leader, youll be one of two technical leads for the team. This involves working with colleagues across the EA, DEFRA and external partners to evolve our Geospatial Services, and coordinating delivery with our service leads.

The National GIS Team provides Geospatial services and leads their use in the EA. We deliver through tools including Easimap (in-house GIS view and query tool), ArcGIS Pro and EAMaps (ArcGIS Enterprise service). We also manage access to ArcGIS Online (AGOL). A joined-up, well-managed, modern suite of corporate services is essential for our users.

  • Evidence of ability to set a strategic direction and coordinate tactical delivery
  • Ability to work with a wide range of customers and partners
  • Experience of working with ESRI products
